Second race – second victory for Wolfgang Kindl

At the “Whistler Sliding Centre”, the Austrian celebrated the sixth individual victory of his career at the World Cup in Whistler, Canada, and further extended his lead in the overall ranking.

Kindl relegated two-time Olympic champion Felix Loch from Germany and his compatriot Reinhard Egger to second and third place on the Olympic track at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver. The best South Tyrolean is Dominik Filehner in eighth place, his cousin Kevin Filehner ended up in 14th place. Dominik Filehner was still in sixth place after the first run, but then botched the second run and lost two positions as a result.

In the first round, the two-year-old track record (50,109 seconds) set by the American Tucker West was improved several times. Wolfgang Kindl ultimately increased the best time to 49,837 seconds. A total of eight starters stayed under the 50-second limit and even 13 stayed under the old track record.

Triple victory for Germany in doubles The tobogganers from Germany impressively underlined their supremacy in the doubles with a triple victory. The duo Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken won with just 19 thousandths of a second ahead of the young sledders Robin Johannes Geueke/David Gramm and the old masters Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt. The South Tyroleans Ludwig Rieder/Patrick Rastner made it into the top 10 in ninth place.

The women will compete in their race in Whistler on Saturday.

Second race – second victory for Wolfgang Kindl

Wolfgang Kindl is getting better and better. Just five days after his success in the Sprint World Cup on his home track in Innsbruck-Igls, the 2017 world champion achieved his second success of the season.
