In 2022 there will be two title fights in South Tyrol

While the details of the race calendar for the 2021/2022 season are still being worked on, the venues for the FIL European Championships and FIL Junior World Championships have already been determined. The 29th European Championships will be held on the “Gafair track” in Lasa. Defending champions are Michael Scheikl (AUT) in the men's single-seater, Evelin Lanthaler (ITA/Passeier) in the women's single-seater and the brothers Patrick Lambacher/Matthias Lambacher (ITA/Villnöß) in the double-seater. For Laas it is the 1st European Championship; previously, European Luge Championships on natural track have been held 7 times in Italy (Taisten 1973, Seis 1977, Aosta 1979, Völs 1991, Moos 1997, Olang 2008 and Moos 2016). For the juniors, after the 2021 European Championships, the World Luge Championships on natural track will also take place in the Jaufental. It is the first World Cup on the “Tonnerboden-Bahn”, which was newly built a few years ago in the municipality of Ratschings, and at the same time new world champions will be crowned in all 1 categories. The defending champions Lisa Walch (GER) in the women's single-seater, Fabian Achenrainer (AUT) in the men's single-seater and Fabian Achenrainer/Simon Achenrainer (AUT) are no longer eligible to start in the juniors. The exact dates for the title fights have not yet been set. The Junior World Championships in Jaufental are expected to take place on the last weekend in January 2022 or on the first weekend in February 2022, with the European Championships in Lasa a week later.
