Fabian Brunner is the man of the hour

Fabian Brunner got off to a dream start: After the opening victory on Tuesday, the South Tyrolean also won the second race of the season on Wednesday. And again it was a thriller. After the first run, Brunner was in second place, just 0,03 seconds behind his half-time leader Daniel Gruber from Schleis. In the decisive second round, Brunner achieved the best time and took the lead with a total time of 2.03,48:18 minutes. Gruber also performed flawlessly, but in the end the 0,01-year-old was 0,87 seconds slower than Brunner, who celebrated his second victory in the second race. The Austrian Miguel Brugger came third, XNUMX seconds behind.

In the junior singles there was a double victory for Germany thanks to Lisa Walch and Sarah Schiller. Junior world champion Walch repeated her victory from the previous day in 2.06,27:1,44 minutes and with the best time in both runs. Sarah Schiller came second, 1,64 seconds behind. Third place went to Riccarda Ruetz (AUT), XNUMX seconds behind. Ruetz and Schiller were also on the podium on Tuesday in second and third place.

In the doubles, local heroes Maximilian Pichler/Peter Dominik Maier (AUT) struck back. After second place on Tuesday, the Austrians secured their first win of the season on Wednesday in 1.06,48:0,92 minutes, 1,60 seconds ahead of Tuesday's winners, Anton Gruber Genetti/Hannes Unterholzner. As on Tuesday, third place went to the Slovenians Bine Mekina/Blaz Mekina (+XNUMX seconds).

After two races, Fabian Brunner and Lisa Walch lead the overall standings with a maximum of 200 points; in the double-seater, Gruber Genetti/Unterholzner and Pichler/Maier share first place with 170 points each.

The Junior World Cup in luge on natural track continues next Sunday with the third stage in Umhausen (AUT).
