Greta Pinggera and Alex Gruber cannot be beaten in Deutschnofen

For the women, Greta Pinggera left nothing to be desired after taking first place in the qualification. The woman from Lasa won ahead of her two teammates Evelin Lanthaler and Sara Bachmann in 1:50.48 minutes. After her second win of the season, Pinggera was happy: “I'm very happy, I had two great runs here. The track is technically demanding, but it's fun. In addition, the atmosphere and the audience are always great here.” With her second triumph in a row, Pinggera reduced her gap in the overall World Cup to Lanthaler, who is still leading, to 30 points. “It probably won’t be enough for the overall World Cup, I would probably need one or two more races,” joked the day’s winner after the race.

According to his own statements, Lanthaler lost a possible victory in the qualification: “It went great in training, but I was too nervous in the first run. I wanted too much, which led to a lot of mistakes - this weekend I was really annoyed again for the first time in a long time." However, the Passirian woman added that she was still satisfied with second place in terms of the overall World Cup. Sara Bachmann, who seems to like the route in Deutschnofen, was also satisfied: “I like the route, it’s one of my favorites. So far I have always come third here,” said the Vinschger native.

Two local podium places for men The winner of the qualification also triumphed in the men's competition. Alex Gruber won with a time of 1:46.85 minutes, earning his first win of the season. “Things went really well for me this weekend. The material was right from the start, I had a good feeling during training, and then I did two perfect runs,” said Gruber after the race. For the man from Villandro it was the third success in Deutschnofen en suite.

Thomas Kammerlander came in second behind Gruber. The Austrian left Patrick Pigneter (he came third) behind him and was able to further extend his lead in the overall World Cup. Before the World Cup final in Umhausen, Kammerlander has 25 points on Pigneter. However, the South Tyrolean is not thinking about giving up: “Giving up is not an option, of course I will fight until the end.” Pigneter was particularly surprised in Nova Ponente at his large gap to the day’s winner Gruber: “The gap to Alex is simply too big. This time it just didn’t go well for me.”

South Tyrol's tobogganers also dominate the team competition There was no getting past the local natural track tobogganers, not only in the individual races, but also in the team competition. Alex Gruber, Greta Pinggera and Patrick Pigneter/Florian Clara relegated the teams from Austria and Russia to the other podium places and thus completed the South Tyrolean triple victory.
