High-ranking visitors to the natural track tobogganists in Passeier

In the doubles, Patrick Pigneter (Völs)/Florian Clara (St. Martin in Thurn) achieved the best time in both training runs. The Russians Pavel Porshnev/Ivan Lazarev, who won the World Cup opener in Obdach-Winterleiten last weekend, ended up in second place. Her fastest time was 57,66 seconds. The Austrian Tina Unterberger was 0,87 seconds slower than Lanthaler, but four hundredths of a second faster than Daniela Mittermair (Deutschnofen). Greta Pinggera (Laas), a third South Tyrolean, ended up among the fastest four female tobogganers. President Roda stirs up Olympic hopes The organizers from the Passeier toboggan club were very pleased with the visit of Flavio Roda, President of the Italian Winter Sports Association (FISI). After the Ski World Cup in Madonna di Campiglio, he made a detour to Platt and not only exchanged ideas with the organizing committee, but also talked very intensively with the athletes.

“It's the first time I've been so close to a luge World Cup on natural track. It is an exciting sport that fascinates me very much and definitely deserves more attention. As an association, we have already submitted a candidacy to the IOC for natural track tobogganing to become an Olympic event in 2026. There are three aspects that I think are important. On the one hand, the volunteers who are behind this sport work hard and would deserve it for that reason alone. Then there are the athletes who do great things - our athletes are also among the best and are therefore promising medal candidates. And then there is the environmental aspect, because natural track tobogganing is one of the sports that respects the environment the most. If we are all convinced and pull together, then we can do it this time,” explained Roda during his visit to Passeier and pledged his full support.
