Lanthaler rushes from victory to victory

The third World Cup stage for natural track tobogganing was on the program on the “Spatzenhügel track” in Moscow. Three decisions were made on Saturday on the spectacular track between the venerable university and the Luzhniki Stadium.

Evelin Lanthaler was once again the focus. The woman from Passiria celebrated her third win of the season in the third race. This time she relegated Russia's Yekaterina Lavrentjewa and Greta Pinggera from Lasa to second and third place. Lanthaler achieved the best time in both runs and once again won comfortably with a lead of 0,56 seconds. Alexandra Pfattner from Latzfons finished the race in fourth place.

Gruber behind Kammerlander In the men's single-seater, North Tyrolean Thomas Kammerlander rolled up the field from behind. After the first run on Friday, the European champion was only in fourth place; on Saturday he had a dream run and celebrated his second win of the season.

“I didn't think it would be enough to win after the miserable run on Friday. I'm really surprised. But the colder temperatures also made the ice on the track harder, and the system of toboggan and rider was working again,” said Kammerlander, who repeated his victory in Moscow in 2017 and is now the sole leader in the overall World Cup.

Alex Gruber from Villandro followed in second place. The world champion was in the lead after the first run, but on Saturday it was only enough for the seventh run. The men's podium (from left): Alex Gruber, Thomas Kammerlander and Florian Glatzl.

Patrick Pigneter from Völs narrowly missed out on the podium. In fourth place, he was just a hundredth of a second slower than the third-placed Austrian Florian Glatzl. Stefan Federer from Völs ended up in fifth place. Pigneter/Clara in 3rd place The Russians Stanislav Kovshik/Ilia Tarasov celebrated their first World Cup victory in the doubles. With a flawless run, the duo clearly won ahead of their teammates Aleksandr Egorov/Petr Popov. The World Cup leaders and favorites Patrick Pigneter/Florian Clara had to be content with third place. Due to ongoing problems with the ice on the track, the doubles team only had to be counted in one run. Pigneter/Clara (right) came in third behind the two Russian doubles.

The pursuit races are scheduled for Sunday in Moscow.

Lanthaler rushes from victory to victory

Even in distant Moscow, the Passirian woman cannot be stopped: Evelin Lanthaler celebrated her third victory in the third race at the World Cup in the Russian capital on Saturday.
