Young world champions are being sought in Lasa

Preparations in Lasa are in full swing. From Friday, February 2nd to Sunday, February 4th, the best young sledders in the world will compete here.

“We hope that our South Tyrolean athletes will be at the forefront and will be cheered on by many spectators along the route,” said the Lasa toboggan section leader Günther Staffler at the presentation of the 11th Junior World Championships in Laas.

Some Lasa athletes want to rely on their home advantage. For example Nadine Staffler. The woman from Lasa recently won the Junior World Cup in St. Sebastian. The latest results show that the South Tyroleans have the best chances of winning a medal, especially among the women. Christa Unterholzner from Völlan and Camilla Singer from Lasa landed in 2nd and 3rd place in St. Sebastian. And the World Cup victory for Florian Haselrieder from Völs and third place for Daniel Gruber from Schleiser, who also competes for SC Laas, give rise to medal hopes.

The World Cup will open with a celebration on Friday, February 2nd, from 19 p.m. on the village square in Laas. The decisions for the doubles are already on the program on Saturday, February 3rd. The junior individual world champions will be crowned on Sunday, February 4th.
