Seiser Alm returns to the World Cup

After the corona-related adjustments last season, the 2021/2022 racing calendar is once again a “real” racing calendar and has some interesting innovations. The FIL World Cup in luge on natural track starts in Umhausen (AUT) from January 7th - 9th, the next stop is the Seiser Alm from January 14th - 16th. The track on Europe's largest high plateau last hosted a World Cup in 2014. On the last two weekends in January, the World Cup entourage continues to Vatra Dornei (ROU) and Zelezniki (SLO). While Vatra Dornei (January 21st - 23rd) is a fixed point in the racing calendar, a World Cup will take place in Zelezniki (January 28th - 30th) for the first time since 2017. European Championships in Lasa After a break of almost three weeks, the European luge championships on natural track continue from February 17th to 20th in Lasa. The defending champions are Michael Scheikl (AUT), Evelin Lanthaler (Passeier) and Patrick Lambacher/Matthias Lambacher (Villnöß). After the title fights, two races are on the program in the Russian capital Moscow (February 25th - 28th). After the classic World Cup, the only eliminator (former pursuer) will take place on Monday. The grand finale of the FIL World Cup 2/4 will come to an end in Mariazell (AUT) from March 6th to 2021th. Junior World Championships in Jaufental The Junior World Cup in luge on natural track begins on December 30th - 31st in Winterleiten (AUT), with the second stop in Latzfons on January 5th - 6th. After the races in Umhausen (AUT) on January 2th - 29th, the Junior World Championships will follow in Jaufental from February 30th - 4th, followed by the World Cup finals on February 6th - 12th in Unterammergau (GER). “We are very happy with this racing calendar and we hope that the epidemiological situation next winter will allow us to hold all the races as planned. It would also be very important for the local organizers that spectators were allowed to attend the races again,” explains natural track sports director Andreas Castiglioni. Seiser Alm returns to the World Cup

The International Luge Federation FIL has published the race calendar for the Luge World Cup on natural tape. In the 2021/2022 season, the World Cup will take place in 5 countries.
