South Tyrolean dominance in sport tobogganing

Already after training it was clear that the local athletes started the race weekend with great ambitions to win. They achieved one best time after another on a well-prepared track. Unfortunately, the competition, especially from Austria, didn't cope so well.

The new and old winner of the European Grand Prix is Theresa Hilpold from Pfeffersberg. She ran the fastest time twice and was able to prevail over her long-term rival Shamira Brunner from ASV Wengen. Third place went to Tyrolean Verena Frischmann from Austria. The race developed excitingly, so after the first run all three runners still had a chance of winning. Very strong runs in the second run confirmed the performances, but nothing changed in the result.

Roman Kaser triumphs in the men's category The men's winner is Roman Kaser from Lüsen, who was also able to defend his title from last year. After the first run, just ahead of Maximilian Preindl, he was able to confirm his performance and confidently took home victory. The home team's Preindl risked everything in the final run and secured second place by a respectable margin after a mistaken run. Tisner Frei Sebastian came third.

In the double-seater competition, the local heroes of ASC Olang Preindl Peter and Gatta Damian took the top podium. Frei/Frei from Tisens secured second place; in the second race they overtook the duo Bucher/Bucher (AUT), who were still just behind Preindl/Gatta in second place after race one, but were no longer able to maintain their performance. As expected, Italy secured the team competition ahead of Austria and Germany.

Now the local sport toboggan elite is preparing for the upcoming World Championships in Hopfgarten im Brixental (AUT) from February 7th to 9th. Despite the pleasing results at the Grand Prix, the tobogganers are hoping for stronger competition from Austria in a sporting sense so that they can compete in exciting races.

South Tyrolean dominance in sport tobogganing

At the World Cup dress rehearsal, the European Grand Prix, South Tyrol's sport lugers won everything there was to win. Great races and exciting competitions were held on the panoramic racetrack in Valdaora.
