Aksel Lund Svindal and Cyprien Richard win in Adelboden

Ted Ligety could have made history in Adelboden on Saturday. The last time there were four consecutive victories in giant slalom was in the 1978/79 season by the legendary Ingemar Stenmark. Ligety was in the lead after the first run, but slipped in the second run just before the penultimate split and finished 28th.

The two winners also wrote history, as the double victory was the first in the long history of this discipline. Svindal and Richard's best time was 2.25,28:XNUMX minutes. Richard set the fastest time in the second run.

The giant slalom in the traditional Swiss ski resort was disappointing for the Italian team. Only one athlete, Max Blardone, made it into the top ten; he finished tenth, 0,45 seconds behind. The best South Tyrolean was Michael Gufler from Passiria in 23rd place (+1,35), immediately ahead of the two Gadertaler Manfred Mölgg (24th/+1,44) and Alexander Ploner (26th/1,57).
