Alex Hofer makes his World Cup debut at Chuenisbärgli

At the weekend, the ski world looks to the Bernese Oberland, where the most difficult giant slalom of the season takes place on the infamous Chuenisbärgli. The list of participants also includes a name that was previously unknown in the World Cup: Alex Hofer.

As a nobody in the World Cup

The young man from Castelrotto has so far mainly attracted attention in FIS races and only recorded his first top ten results in the European Cup last December. At the giant slalom in Trysil he came second on the podium. However, his rapid development left a lasting impression on the selection coaches: they appointed Hofer to the eight-man squad for the Adelboden giant slalom.

In addition to him, the four other South Tyroleans Manfred Mölgg, Florian Eisath, Riccardo Tonetti and Simon Maurberger as well as Luca De Aliprandini, Roberto Nani and Giovanni Borsotti are in the Italian squad. The first run is scheduled for Saturday at 10.30:13.30 a.m., the second run begins at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.

A slalom follows on Sunday in Adelboden with the same start times. In addition to Stefano Gross, Cristian Deville, Tommaso Sala, Giuliano Razzoli and Federico Liberatore, the three local slalom masses Mölgg, Patrick Thaler and Fabian Bacher are also competing here. For Thaler it could be the last appearance in the Ski World Cup .
