Gold on the local mountain: Pinturault takes the crown

Pinturault is the man in demand in the luxury French ski resort. The 31-year-old veteran comes from Courchevel (his family runs a five-star hotel not far from the World Cup slopes) and attracted numerous fans to his local mountain on Tuesday. After his best time in the Super-G Pinturault went onto the slopes first in the final slalom. The Frenchman kept his nerve and narrowly edged out his main rival Marco Schwarz.

At the last split, Black was still three tenths of a second ahead of Pinturault. In the last gates of the sharply rotating finish slope, the Austrian made a crucial mistake that cost him the gold medal. In the end, “Blacki” had to be beaten by a tenth and settle for the silver medal.

Pinturault was crowned world champion in the super combined for the second time in his career. Today's triumph at home is certainly special, after all, the former overall World Cup winner grew up in Courchevel and learned to ski here. “Today is a perfect day for me,” Pinturault said afterwards ORF -Interview.

The Haaser fairy tale As with the women, the bronze medal went to someone from the Haaser ski family. After his sister Ricarda sensationally came third the day before, her brother, who is four years younger, followed suit on Tuesday. Raphael Haaser defended his third place in the Super-G and won bronze in his first World Championship race.

Tobias Kastlunger also had a strong World Cup debut. The Enneberger was in 22nd place after the Super-G. In the slalom, Kastlunger fought his way up to seventh place - despite a mistake on the finish slope. The second South Tyrolean, Dominik Paris, had already been eliminated in the Super-G. The World Cup in the French Alps continues on Wednesday (11.30 a.m.) with the women's Super-G.
