Baby wish fulfilled: offspring in Italy's ski team

Italy's ski family is growing: a few days ago, a prominent former ski racer fulfilled her wish to have a baby.

A special ski career ended in Italy at the beginning of March 2022. With Francesca Marsaglia, a true Roman said goodbye to the World Cup stage. Although she grew up in the Eternal City - which is not necessarily known as a winter sports mecca - the speed specialist managed 225 World Cup races and a third place. When Marsaglia resigned, she said, “Now I want to be a mom.”

Now, almost two years later, this wish for a baby has come true. Little Edoardo was born on Tuesday. The former downhill skier and her partner Nicoló are in seventh heaven. “Is there a greater miracle?” Marsaglia asked on Instagram.

The ski community was happy for the young family. Manuela Mölgg, Werner Heel, Cornelia Hütter, Ilka Stuhec – they all congratulated the 34-year-old on her greatest success in life. Marsaglia herself remained loyal to her sport of skiing: she has been working as an expert at Eurosport since the end of her career.
