At halftime: Hirscher show on the Gran Risa

Marcel Hirscher has been undefeated in Alta Badia since 2013. In the first run, the Salzburg man showed why: A perfect run, almost a second ahead of the entire competition. If there isn't a huge surprise in the second part of the giant slalom on the Gran Risa, then Hirscher will also raise his winning fist into the Val Badia sky this Sunday afternoon.

South Tyroleans with a lot of backlog The Swede Matts Olsson came closest to Hirscher - the only one who was less than a second behind the Austrian. However, his deficit is also considerable at 94 hundredths. The surprise man of the first run was junior world champion Marco Odermatt. When many runners opened up big gaps in time, the Swiss showed a strong run and took third place with start number 27. Fourth at the halfway point on the Gran Risa is Manuel Feller from North Tyrol, who offered a wild ride as usual. Hirscher's long-term competitor Henrik Kristoffersen is waiting for the podium places (3th place, 5 seconds behind).

Manfred Mölgg, who started his home race in a weak state, continually lost a lot of time from top to bottom. At the finish, he was 2,63 seconds behind Hirscher. But that's enough to be included in the second round. Riccardo Tonetti fared even less well, as he ran incorrectly and was already hugely behind in the upper part. The man from Bolzano lost a total of over four and a half seconds - too much to qualify for the second round. Simon Maurberger lost a little less time, but the Ahrntaler won't be taking part in a second run on the Gran Risa either. Alex Hofer from Castelrotto was eliminated after a long deficit.

This means that only two “Azzurri” will be there in the second round in Alta Badia: Manfred Mölgg (17th after the first round) and Luca De Aliprandini from Nonstal (29th) – a disgrace.
