With Noel, Vinatzer & Co: The World Cup form is right

A World Cup slalom will take place in Chamonix on Saturday. It is the last race before the World Ski Championships, which begins on Monday with the women's combination. Before the big event, some athletes who have had a difficult winter are reporting back.

Clement Noel for example. The Frenchman seems to have been in top form just in time for the World Ski Championships. After things went badly at the start of the season (3 retirements in the first 4 races), he is now back to his old self. After winning the Night Race in Schladming, Noel leads Ramon Zenhäuser at the break in Chamonix by 15 hundredths. The same applies to the tall Swiss: The World Cup form is right. Daniel Yule (+3), another Swiss, follows in third place.

But it's not just Noel who is back on the slalom track. The Norwegian Olympic champion Sebastian Foss Solevaag (never better than 13th this season) is in 5th place and shows that he is a force to be reckoned with again. The Bulgarian Albert Popov (7th) also did well in the first run. This also applies to Alex Vinatzer (1th), who wants to and has to register again after two point-less races in a row - if his starting number doesn't go any further back. In Chamonix, the Wolkensteiner is the best Azzurro during the break. Ahrntaler Simon Maurberger (11th) is also represented in the final. Tobias Kastlunger (2th), however, didn't manage to do that - which means the South Tyrolean's World Cup dream may have been dashed.

Clement Noel is getting into shape just in time for the home World Cup in Courchevel/Meribel. The Frenchman leads the last ski race before the World Championships after the first round. But it wasn't just the Frenchman who was strong.
