It couldn't be better: Hector leads in Killington

The first giant slalom of the season is still a bit of a period of discovery for many athletes - but not for Sara Hector. The Beijing Olympic champion put on a flawless run in Killington, USA, and secured the lead in the first round with a lead of 0,38 seconds over Ragnhild Mowinckel.

While there is a relatively large gap between Hector and Mowinckel, the fight for the podium is much more exciting. Lara Gut-Behrami (+0,43 seconds), Petra Vlhova (+0,46) and Marta Bassino (+0,59) are just a blink of an eye behind second-placed Mowinckel.

Tessa Worley, who won the discipline ranking last season, didn't really get going. The Frenchwoman only managed seventh place in the first round (7th/+1,19).

While Bassino is in the middle of the fight for a podium place, her teammate Federica Brignone has to go a little further. The overall World Cup winner of the 2019/20 season is 1,59 seconds behind after the first run. Roberta Melesi made it to the decision in 29th place (+2,62). South Tyrolean Karoline Pichler was eliminated in 3,61th place, +44 seconds behind.
