Bormio training: Innerhofer underlines his ambitions

In the end, Innerhofer was 68 hundredths of a second ahead of his first pursuer. His name is Daniel Hemetsberger and he comes from Austria. A little surprise, especially since Hemetsberger is no longer a young talent. The Upper Austrian is already 27 years old, but has always flown under the radar of the big ski nation. In the first Bormio training session, Hemetsberger went over the Stelvio piste with start number 37. A surprise man also landed in third place: Ryan Cochran-Siegle (USA) started with number 3.

Paris in the top ten Innerhofer was not the only South Tyrolean who was able to impress in the first downhill training in Bormio. Dominik Paris, not normally a training world champion, finished 1,94 seconds behind in 7th place. The Frenchman Matthieu Bailet landed one place ahead of the Ultner. The 22-year-old started with number 53 and is a very interesting man. Two years ago, Bailet won the gold medal in the Super-G at the Junior World Championships in Sochi before an injury slowed him down last year.
