Bormio brings back fond memories

The World Cup season has been excellent so far for the two South Tyrolean speed aces Dominik Paris and Christof Innerhofer. The Ultner took third place in both Lake Louise and Beaver Creek, the Gaiser also took second place on the podium twice in Lake Louise and in Val Gardena.

The Bormio races have come at just the right time: the two South Tyroleans feel right at home on the Stelvio slope. Innerhofer took home his first World Cup victory there in 2008 and raced to third place in 2010. Paris is even more successful: in 3 he won the downhill at the same time as Hannes Reichelt, and last year the Ultner was also unbeatable in the downhill travels to Sondrio as defending champions. The omens are therefore good for the two South Tyrolean speed aces.

Peter Fill is fit again The third speed ace in the group is Peter Fill, who recently had to skip the Val Gardena downhill run because of the consequences of his Beaver Creek fall. Now the Castelrotto native is back in the squad. He also has good memories of Bormio: he came second in the station wagon in 2017 and in the downhill in 2006.

The squad also includes Emanuele Buzzi, Mattia Casse, Matteo Marsaglia and Werner Heel. Federico Paini, Davide Cazzaniga and Alexander Prast play for last place in training.

Speaking of training: Testing takes place on the Stelvio at 11.45 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday the downhill is on the program (11.30 a.m.), on Saturday there is the Super-G (11.45 a.m.).

Bormio brings back fond memories

The last men's races of the year take place on Friday (Downhill) and Saturday (Super-G) in Bormio - a place where South Tyroleans have fond memories.
