Braathen grabs the slalom crystal

32 points separated the two Norwegians before the final slalom. Kristoffersen was therefore forced to finish at least seventh. He managed that easily in third place. After a cautious first run, the 28-year-old turned on the turbo in the decision. However, Braathen countered skillfully. The youngster defended his lead from the first round and stayed ahead of Kristoffersen. It was clear that the ball could no longer be taken away from him. He was able to cope with the fact that Braathen had to hand over the day's victory to Ramon Zenhäuser.

On the badly battered slope, Kristoffersen put in a very good performance, which put Braathen under a lot of pressure. But the latter proved that he has nerves of steel. He didn't manage his lead, he took risks. This was the only way he could keep his compatriot in check. This plan worked: although he was far from driving perfectly, the light flashed green at the finish. After that there was no stopping. In front of the eyes of Marco Odermatt, Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, who followed the race up close in the finish area, the half-Brazilian's emotions burst out. The fact that Zenhäuser achieved his 6th World Cup victory with a fantastic performance was almost a side note.

Alex Vinatzer, meanwhile, ensured a conciliatory end to a turbulent season: at the beginning he was eliminated three times in a row before he found his way back and won the bronze medal at the World Championships. He was also able to collect his first giant slalom points in the World Cup. On Sunday, the Wolkensteiner benefited from the sharply decreasing slope and improved by 14 positions thanks to the fastest time in the second run. Vinatzer finished in a strong 5th place.

Braathen grabs the slalom crystal

Not Henrik Kristoffersen, but Lucas Braathen is the new slalom king: The 22-year-old fended off his compatriot's general attack on Sunday in Soldeu (Andorra) and thus secured his first small ball.
