Christof Innerhofer wins in Schladming!

The 27-year-old from Pustertal once again demonstrated his class at the World Cup final and concluded a mixed season with his third World Cup victory. At the Super-G in Schladming he decided the hundredths thriller in his favor.

Innerhofer won with a razor-thin lead of two hundredths over the Frenchman Alex Pinturault. Third-placed Marcel Hirscher crossed the finish line six hundredths behind. The top favorites Didier Cuche (7th), Klaus Kröll (17th) and Beat Feuz (eliminated) had to be content with extra roles.

“This result will give me a lot of impetus for the coming season,” said Innerhofer’s statement in the finish area. “In the starting gate I knew that this was the last chance for a top result. For weeks I've only been driving with painkillers. I am overjoyed that I have ended this difficult time with this victory.” For the reigning Super-G world champion from Gais, this is the seventh podium finish in the World Cup and the first victory in the Super-G.

The Italian team was able to record another success: surprise man Matteo Marsaglia from Rome came in fourth (+0,22) and narrowly missed the podium. Meanwhile, Peter Fill didn't get past 25th place. He was 5,66 seconds behind.
