Christof Innerhofer back on the podium

On Friday, Christof Innerhofer was only beaten by superstar Aksel Lund Svindal from Norway on the Saslong. “Inner” started the race with the low number 6 and conjured up a dream time with an almost flawless run to the finish. Only Svindal, who celebrated his fifth victory in Val Gardena, was 0,05 seconds faster than the South Tyrolean. Innerhofer and Svindal were neck-and-neck from start to finish. Even at the first intermediate time there was only 0,05 seconds between the two exceptional athletes, and in the end the Norwegian was ahead. For Innerhofer it is the first podium finish in Val Gardena and the second this season. At the start in Lake Louise at the end of November, Innerhofer came second in the downhill. With Kjetil Jansrud in third place, Innerhofer is in the “Norwegian Sandwich”. Johan Clarey managed the surprise, the veteran from France drove to fourth place with the high number 50!

Things didn't go as planned for the other South Tyroleans: Dominik Paris drove past a gate after the best first intermediate time after the Ciaslat meadows and was eliminated. The physically weakened Peter Fill did not make it into the points, 1,88 seconds behind Svindal.

Alexander Prast was the last South Tyrolean to start the race with start number 57. The man from Bolzano was doing well in the upper part of the route, but then gradually lost time and managed 52nd place in his fifth World Cup appearance.

A solid performance brought Emanuele Buzzi to the finish line, who equaled his second-best Super-G result to date with 22nd place, and Mattia Casse also scored World Cup points in 27th place.

On Saturday at 11.45 a.m. the downhill classic is on the program in Val Gardena, with, among others, Christof Innerhofer, Dominik Paris, Werner Heel and Florian Schieder.

Christof Innerhofer back on the podium

Gaiser Christof Innerhofer is currently enjoying the best start to the season of his career. The 33-year-old made it onto the podium again at the Super-G in Val Gardena.
