Cortina: Start-finish victory for Stuhec, Goggia and Veith on the podium

There it is Course setting , which, especially in the final part, was more reminiscent of a downhill run than a Super-G. In many places there was talk of a “Departure Light”.

There is the Slovenian's brilliant performance Ilka Stuhec , who, with start number one, already conjured up a time in the snow that the following 59 runners had their teeth cut on. For Stuhec it was not only her first Super-G victory of her career, but also her first podium in this discipline.

That would be the case Sofia Goggia , who put the audience in Cortina in a state of joy with her second place. Nevertheless, there remains a small sadness: the Bergamaskin is having an outstanding season, as her nine podium places impressively underline. But so far it hasn't been enough to achieve a big success, i.e. a victory.

There would be the sensational ride from Anna Veith , who took first place on the podium with a third place in only her second Super-G after her return to the World Cup circuit.

There would be Mikaela Shiffrin , who finished fourth with start number 31 and was on course for victory for a long time. She missed out on the sensation, but no one could take away from the slalom queen her best result by far in a speed discipline (previously a 13th place in the Lake Louise downhill in December 2016).

There would be the right arm of lara gut , with which she got stuck on a gate and was eliminated. The Swiss couldn't extend her streak: she won all three Super-Gs so far this season, and in Cortina she was aiming for the fourth victory.

And there would be the strong idea of Verena Stuffer : Starting the race with starting number 48, the woman from Val Gardena fought her way to the front and took 17th place in the final ranking. Hanna Schnarf, on the other hand, ended up in 18th place, while Anna Hofer (43rd) and Nicol Delago (49th) were further back.
