Thanks to MotoGP star Marquez: Caviezel has new hopes for a comeback

A training fall in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in January 2021 permanently changed Mauro Caviezel's life and career. The traumatic brain injury left clear traces that are far worse than initially assumed. That's why Caviezel decided last fall not to attempt a comeback in the Ski World Cup. “From a certain angle I see double vision,” Caviezel said at the time.

Like the Swiss tabloid View reports, the speed specialist has now gained new hope. The reason for this is Marc Marquez, who helped the Swiss. Justin Murisier (he is the roommate of Mauro's brother Gino Caviezel) knows the motorcyclist Daniel Pedrosa, who in turn is a former teammate of Marquez. “Gino kept telling me about Mauro’s symptoms over the winter. Because I, as a passionate motorcycle fan, am intensively involved with MotoGP, I came to the conclusion that Mauro has the same problem that slowed down Marc Marquez for a while,” reports Murisier. Doctor's appointment in Barcelona Pedrosa put him in touch with Marquez, who recommended Caviezel make an appointment with a specialist in Barcelona. The ski star flew to Catalonia, where he was thoroughly examined and given new training input from the doctor. It's about head positions and eye training, as Caviezel explains. Marquez had success with the same method. Caviezel also gained new hope. He is already tolerating the fitness training better than before.

In August, the 2020 Super-G crystal ball winner will start a new comeback attempt. Then he will travel to South America with the Swiss team. Speed training will be completed in Chile and Caviezel will then finally know whether there is a chance of a comeback in the winter of 2022/23.
