The Chuenisbärgli is shaking: Odermatt rules

Odermatt was already 0,31 seconds ahead of Frenchman Alexis Pinturault after the first run. In the second round he didn't let anything go wrong and ultimately celebrated a confident victory, 0,48 seconds ahead of the Austrian Manuel Feller, who improved to second place after fifth place in the first round with a strong second run. Pinturault finished the race in third place.

The cheering at the Chuenisbärgli knew no bounds. Despite the corona pandemic, fans were allowed and around 12.300 spectators were on site. For Odermatt it was the 4th victory in the 5th World Cup giant slalom this winter, and he has already won a Super-G.

Giovanni Borsotti ended up as the best Azzurro in 17th place (+4,23). Alex Hofer from Castelrotto, who was in 1th place after the first run, was able to improve to 24th place. For him it is the best World Cup result of his career. Simon Maurberger from Ahrntal, 18th after the first run, was also able to improve in the second round and finished the race in 27th place. Riccardo Tonetti, on the other hand, was different: The Bolzano native, 19th after the first run, also showed a good performance for a long time in the second run drive, but in the demanding final part he ran out of energy, which is why he lost a lot of time. In the end he fell back to 11rd place.

Luca De Aliprandini from Nonsberg was doing well in the first round, but then fell badly after a threader and landed in the safety net. The 31-year-old from Trentino initially complained of pain, but was able to get up again on his own. According to initial information, fortunately he did not suffer any serious injuries or fractures.
