The wait is over: the 42nd World Ski Championships opens - program as PDF

The 42nd Ski World Championships in Schladming are scheduled to open with a lavish celebration this evening. And everyone who has a name in Austria is included: from Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Terminator, to Hermann Maier, the Herminator, to the Austrian Federal President Heinz Fischer. The world-famous horses from the Vienna Riding School, the “Lippizaner”, will also appear in the show, which lasts several hours, as the APA reported in advance. Austrian music stars such as Wolfgang Ambros and Rainhard Fendrich are also taking part in the show event.

The first sporting treat follows on Tuesday, namely the women's Super-G. However, South Tyrol will not be represented there. Hanna Schnarf is injured, Verena Stuffer and Lisa Agerer were not called up. The South Tyrolean ski racers are among the favorites in the men's Super-G on Wednesday. No wonder, the local ski aces have always won a medal in the Super-G since 2007. The big hunted in Schladming is certainly Christof Innerhofer, because he wants to defend his Garmisch-Partenkirchen title. Together with “Inner” Werner Heel, Peter Fill (silver 2009), Siegmar Klotz and Matteo Marsaglia are at the start in Schladming.

On Thursday there is the first day of rest before the weekend begins with a very busy program. The women's super combination takes place on Friday, the men's downhill on Saturday, on Sunday the women will be in action again with the train descent and on Monday the men will be in action in the super combination.

The team event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 12th. The technical competitions will take place in blocks starting next Thursday, February 14th. First the women's giant slalom (Thursday), then the men's (Friday) and at the weekend the slalom (Saturday the women, Sunday the men).
