The Ski World Cup returns to South Tyrol

For three days, the best speed aces first fight for victory in Val Gardena and then the technicians in Alta Badia. The Super-G is on the program in Val Gardena on Friday, December 19th. Saturday, December 20th is all about the traditional downhill run. And on Sunday, December 21st, the battle for victory will be in the giant slalom in Alta Badia. More than 100 ski racers from 25 nations will take part in the three days of competition.

The two speed races in Val Gardena start at 12.15 p.m. It will be interesting to see who will be ahead on the Saslong, where good gliding skills are required. The demanding Gran Risa will demand everything from the giant slalomists on Sunday. The first round starts here at 9.30:29 a.m. The World Cup races in Val Badia are taking place for the XNUMXth time this year.

The Ski World Cup in South Tyrol not only attracts numerous local spectators, but is also a crowd puller when it comes to television. Last year, 300 million TV viewers followed the three World Cup races in South Tyrol on television screens. The winter sports spectacle was reported on worldwide for a total of 210 hours, with a market share of 13 percent.

The snow is still coming

Preparations are in full swing both in Val Gardena and in Alta Badia. The only thing the two organizing committees are currently worried about is the snow. At the beginning of December it is expected to get significantly colder, which will make the production of artificial snow much easier. Snow checks will take place in Val Gardena on December 6th. The FIS will then give the green light for the 47th Saslong Classic.

High prize money

In Val Gardena, prize money totaling 83.000 euros will be distributed on both racing days, which will be divided among the top ten finishers. The winner takes home 28.500 euros. The fastest 30 will be awarded prizes in Alta Badia. 104.550 euros will be distributed here.

New logos

Both organizing committees have revised their trademarks. A large "G" was inserted into the existing logo and will in future represent the speed world cup races in the Ladin Valley. In Alta Badia, however, the skier was revamped in the old logo. Hat and sunglasses were replaced by helmet and ski goggles.
