The devil of injuries is raging in Italy's ski team

Alexander Prast suffered a hand injury during training in Cervinia. This was announced by the Italian winter sports association. A finger was also affected, but the injury is unlikely to be too serious. “The healing time is a few days,” wrote the FISI. Prast, who is an integral part of the Azzurri speed team this year, can and will aim for the first speed race of the season on December 12th in Val d'Isére: Then the first downhill run of the winter is on the program in the French winter sports resort.

Mattia Casse, who had the best season of his life last year and was in the top 5 five times in the Super-G, was hit much harder. The Bergamaske suffered a fractured ankle – also in Cervinia. A decision will be made in the next few days as to whether surgical intervention is necessary. Casse, along with Dominik Paris and Christof Innerhofer, is the hope in the Azzurri speed team this year. Now it is more than just questionable whether he can take part in Val d'Isére.

A young driver was also hit. Matteo Franzoso, 21-year-old talent from the Italian European Cup team, injured his knee. There are fears of a ligament injury, but more detailed tests will show how serious the injury really is for the ski talent from Sestriere in the next few hours.

It was already announced on Wednesday that Simon Maurberger due to bone edema on the tibial plateau has to pause. Manfred Mölgg is against it because of a corona infection currently out of action.
