The French set the tone – four South Tyroleans were there

After the first round, three French technology specialists were among the top five. The field is led by giant slalom world champion Mathieu Faivre, who is 42 hundredths of a second ahead of Switzerland's Loic Meillard and 0,79 seconds ahead of his compatriot Alexis Pinturault at halftime. Thibaut Favrot, also French, is in fifth place, but is already over a second behind. The first round was a start number race: all athletes with a single-digit number are in the first seven positions. Riccardo Tonetti from Bolzano achieved the best interim result and is in 18th place at halftime, one position behind the Italian Giovanni Borsotti. With Hannes Zingerle (Stern/La Ila, 25th), Manfred Mölgg (St. Vigil, 26th) and Alex Hofer (Kastelruth, 28th), three other local ski aces are included in the decision. The best Azzurro after the first round is vice world champion Luca De Aliprandini in twelfth place. Croatian Filip Zubcic, who won the giant slalom on Saturday, is far behind, more than three seconds behind.
