Aleksander Aamodt Kilde's big show

The signs couldn't have been better in Colorado: bright sunshine, low temperatures and no wind on the otherwise wind-prone Birds of Prey provided perfect conditions for the big show. In this, an almost unleashed, incredible Aleksander Aamodt Kilde became the leading actor. At the same time, Dominik Paris, who had recently been so dissatisfied, gave a strong sign of life: The 32-year-old narrowly missed the podium in fifth place.

What Kilde conjured up in the snow on Saturday will most likely go down in the history books. From the first to the last goal, the 29-year-old showed a journey like from another planet - and with the high number 19. The Norwegian pulverized the best time set by Matthias Mayer by a whopping 66 hundredths of a second, celebrated his second victory within 24 hours and proved himself that he is his old self again. Feuz makes a mistake All eyes were on Beat Feuz – for good reason. The Swiss had won the last two descents on the said route, but at that time the race was not from the very top. This means: The long sliding piece, which Feuz doesn't like, was eliminated. Despite a major mistake on the steep slope, the 34-year-old set the interim best time, which was beaten by Mayer just a few minutes later. The Lake Louise winner didn't make a single mistake, drove away from everyone, especially on the steep slopes, and distanced himself from Feuz, who made up time in the lower section, by almost four tenths of a second.

Behind them, Paris was unable to break his podium taboo in a descent in Beaver Creek, but showed a clear upward trend before the races in Val Gardena. The man from Ultimo was by no means at his best, but was able to limit the damage on the steep slope so that he could show off his full potential in the final part. He finished a good fifth, 1.23 seconds behind. Christof Innerhofer also improved significantly compared to the Super-Gs, finishing eleventh (+ 1,50 seconds). Meanwhile, the biggest surprise of the day came from 36-year-old Matteo Marsaglia, who unexpectedly came fourth thanks to a fantastic steep slope.
