The sky blue Val Gardena winners

The last South Tyrolean to win a race in Val Gardena was Werner Heel. Ten years ago he won the Super-G on the Saslong. Herbert Plank celebrated the only South Tyrolean downhill victory in Val Gardena in 1977.

Gustav Thöni's victory in 1975 will never be forgotten. In front of 40.000 enthusiastic fans, he won the final of the parallel slalom against his long-time Swedish rival Ingemar Stenmark. With this race, Thöni won the overall World Cup.

Of the “Azzurri” who will be competing in Val Gardena this year, alongside Heel (first and third), Dominik Paris (second and third) and Matteo Marsaglia (second) also stood on a podium in Val Gardena.
