Already something of Lara Della Mea heard? No, this is not a new fashion label, but an extremely talented slalom runner from Tarvisio. The 19-year-old celebrates her 20th birthday on Thursday and competed in her sixth World Cup race in Zagreb. Della Mea celebrated her World Cup debut in October at the opening in Sölden, in Courchevel in December she competed in her first slalom, and at the end of December at Semmering she performed 16th in the slalom for the first time. In Zagreb she confirmed this result with 17th place. Despite all the euphoria, it should be said that not every day is Sunday and that this young runner will not always score points. Her willingness to take risks will also result in one or two failures, but Della Mea is already having an impact: her experienced teammates Chiara Costazza (9th) and Irene Curtoni (14th) suddenly had to step on the gas too. The internal competition has woken up the two “princesses”.

The nickname of Istok Rodes is “East”, no one knows exactly why that is. The 22-year-old Croatian finished seventh in his home race at Sljeme, repeating his best World Cup result to date from Madonnal di Campiglio shortly before Christmas. The 29-year-old from Bolzano found his way into the World Cup via slalom, made his debut in Schladming in 2010 and only competed in his first giant slalom in the World Cup in 2014!
