Again and again Mikaela Shiffrin: The 23-year-old is currently going from win to win, and Shiffrin has a dominant lead in the overall World Cup. Maryna Gasienica-Daniel got her first World Cup points in the parallel slalom in St. Moritz. With 24th place, the 28-year-old secured the first World Cup points for Poland since Maciej Bydlinski in the 2015/16 season.

Lucas Braathen from Norway finished the giant slalom in Val d'Isère in 26th place, just behind the three-time giant slalom world champion and Olympic champion Ted Ligety. For the 18-year-old Braathen, who took to the track with the high start number 60, it was the first World Cup race of his young career. You have to go on the practice lift… The German Ski Association! The ski fairytale of the fabulous comeback a week ago in Beaver Creek has already suffered a bitter setback - no matter how the story turns out. Premiere winner Stefan Luitz was supplied with oxygen from a bottle before the start of the race, and now he is threatened with having his victory withdrawn. Why? According to the regulations of the international ski association FIS, this is an illegal measure. The DSV, however, claims to have known nothing about it, because the World Anti-Doping Agency WADA removed artificial oxygen from the doping list in 2018. However, a national ski association should know the rules of the International Ski Association and, if in doubt, avoid “Trick 17”. Emphasizing in press releases afterwards that the DSV does not want to be associated with doping does not make the story any better - on the contrary.

The Parallel Slalom in St. Moritz was - from the viewer's point of view - a pretty slow event. The FIS can definitely think about how this format can be made “faster”. One idea: change the position of the television cameras, because the red finish cloth covered the runners on the last - decisive - gates on every trip. Even an intermission show wouldn't hurt the format. The next test is in a week, at the parallel giant slalom next Monday from 18.15:XNUMX p.m. in Stern/La Ila.
