After the first run, Tumler was still in 21st place! Mauro Caviezel's roommate (second in downhill and super-G at Beaver Creek) was always considered a talented skier, but persistent back problems kept throwing the Bayern fan back. In the meantime, Tumler even thought out loud about resigning, but then decided on a change of materials rather than a job.

There was also a sense of success for Valerie Grenier. The 22-year-old from Ontario finished fifth in the Super-G in Lake Louise and made it into the top 10 for the first time in her young career, and of all things in her home race. A great success for head coach Manuel Gamper, The Ultner took over command of the Canadians two years ago.

And last but not least Mikaela Shiffrin: The ski queen from the USA has now finally secured her place in the history books. With her victory in the Super-G, the 23-year-old became the seventh athlete to join the elite circle of ski racers who were able to celebrate World Cup victories in all disciplines. These include Lindsey Vonn, Tina Maze, Anja Pärson, Janica Kostelic, Petra Kronberger and Pernilla Wiberg. Shiffrin has also already entered the winners' lists in the city event and parallel slalom disciplines. You have to go on the practice lift… There is still a lot of work ahead of us ÖSV giant slalom team. There is a huge gap behind superstar Marcel Hirscher. The second best ÖSV runner in Beaver Creek was Johannes Strolz in 23rd place!
