Dominik Paris: “Today I was pretty much at my limit”

24 hours after his victory in the downhill race in Kvitfjell (NOR), the 29-year-old also won the Super-G on Sunday and is 2nd in the Downhill World Cup and leader in the Super-G ranking before the final in mid-March in Andorra. In the overall World Cup, Paris is in fourth place after its 14th World Cup victory.

“You just have to risk everything and hope that the others don’t get as much out of it. “I’ve now found the right balance,” said the Kitzbühel downhill winner and Super-G world champion from Åre on ZDF. Before the end of a long season with the World Cup final in Andorra from March 13th to 17th, Paris also admitted: “Today I was pretty much at my limit.”

Dominik Paris' ride wasn't flawless, but it was fast: “In Super-G you have to let your skis move. Then a few mistakes happen on the line - if things go well, you're also fast." Paris attests that with successes self-confidence grows, and then you can push yourself to the limit. “I've made some progress everywhere this year. A little more experience, the material is developing in the right direction. I can now drive sharply at the limit, which is a big difference compared to last year.”

Billing takes place in Andorra Paris doesn't want to talk about the crystal ball. “It's true, the ball is within reach. But anything can happen in Super-G, a small mistake is enough and the race is over. We’ll see after the final in Soldeu.”

The men are contesting a World Cup race in Andorra for the first time; so far only European Cup races have taken place on the slopes in Soldeu. Andorra is new territory for the established runners in the World Cup.
