Paris to Bormio: “I didn’t expect that”

Dominik Paris started the Super-G with a few mistakes and was only in 16th place at the first intermediate time! The previously leading Olympic champion, Matthias Mayer from Austria, was in a league of his own and was almost half a second ahead of his pursuers. “Today it was even more difficult. Dominik Paris has a special connection to Bormio, where he celebrated his first World Cup victory in 2012, and now has three downhill victories on the “Stelvio” and one victory in the Super-G. Second victory in the Super-G, again ahead of Mayer For “Domme” it was the second World Cup victory in the Super-G. The last Super-G in Bormio was held in 2008, when Hannes Reichelt (AUT) won, Christof Innerhofer came fifteenth, the German Andreas Sander did not finish and Ted Ligety (USA) was disqualified. For all other starters on Saturday it was the first Super-G in Bormio.

Dominik Paris leaves Bormio with the maximum of 200 points, meaning the 29-year-old climbed to fifth place in the overall World Cup, third in the downhill rankings and eighth in the Super-G World Cup.
