“Domme” rocks the Stelvio slope and celebrates his 9th victory

Dominik Paris from Ultimo was four hundredths of a second faster than the Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal, who won the last World Cup downhill in Bormio in 2013 and the downhill runs in Beaver Creek and Val Gardena this season. Svindal's compatriot Kjetil Jansrud is currently in third place, 17 hundredths behind Paris.

Paris was still without a podium place this year So far this season has not gone as desired for Dominik Paris - without any podium finishes. The best result so far was 5th place in the Beaver Creek downhill.

For Paris it is the ninth World Cup victory, the eighth in the downhill. The Ultner celebrated his first victory in 2012 – in the downhill race in Bormio, at the same time as the Austrian Hannes Reichelt. With his 21st podium finish, Paris also achieved the azure ski team's first win of the season.

Fill and Innerhofer miss the top 10 The two fastest in training, Peter Fill and Christof Innerhofer, fell somewhat short of expectations. Both the Kastelruth and Gaiser missed the top 10: Fill came in 13th and Innerhofer in 15th. Small consolation: As the slope conditions worsened, only 2-3 riders with higher starting numbers were faster than the two South Tyrolean veterans.

After several interruptions in the race, the fourth and last South Tyrolean starter, Werner Heel, with his high number 52, had no chance of a top result: he came in 52nd place.

“Domme” rocks the Stelvio slope and celebrates his 9th victory

The only training run in Bormio on Tuesday had raised some hopes of good results on the Stelvio slope among the South Tyroleans, three of whom were among the five fastest. And these hopes came true: Dominik Paris, fifth in training, repeated his victory from 2012.
