Third win of the season for Marcel Hirscher – two South Tyroleans in the top ten

Hirscher, who was in second place after the first run, just 0,01 seconds behind, really got going in the second run, especially in the lower part, and finally took the lead in 1:56,17. For the Austrian, who is now in the lead in the overall World Cup, it was his 15th World Cup victory and his eighth in the slalom.

Second place went to the Swede Andre Mhyrer, sixth after the first run. At the finish he was over half a second behind the winner. Meanwhile, Hirscher's teammate Mario Matt was pleased with his best result of the season so far in third place (+1,09 seconds).

The race didn't go as desired for Jens Byggmark. He was in the lead after the first run and slipped 15 places back in the second run. The best “Azzurro” on Sunday, however, was Stefano Gross, who finished fourth and missed the podium by just six hundredths.

The race was also a success from a South Tyrolean perspective. Manfred Mölgg and Patrick Thaler were both able to place in the top ten. Mölgg gained three places in the second round and ended up in seventh place, 1,73 seconds behind. Meanwhile, Thaler even made up nine places and came tenth.

However, Riccardo Tonetti from Bolzano, who celebrated his first European Cup victory at the night slalom in Chamonix on Friday evening, was unlucky: he was eliminated in the first run.

Third win of the season for Marcel Hirscher – two South Tyroleans in the top ten

23-year-old Marcel Hirscher celebrated his third success of the current season on Sunday. Two South Tyroleans, Manfred Mölgg from Enneberg and Patrick Thaler from Sarn, placed in the top ten.
