A book about Austria's ski Napoleon Peter Schröcksnadel

At the side of author Florian Madl, the North Tyrolean praised briefly four months after his resignation as long-term president of the Austrian Ski Association the unauthorized work, but not without a little criticism. “But, well written and researched,” praised Schröcksnadel.

Schröcksnadel's succession plan led to an internal mudslinging among the state ski associations in the spring and summer. His successor Karl Schmidhofer has now resigned. "We can talk about everything. Just not about the ÖSV and politics,” said Schröcksnadel in downtown Vienna. “There are not many sports associations where a president has played such an important role.” Author Florian Madl Madl, sports director of the Tiroler Tageszeitung, explained his motivation for the book as follows: “There are not many sports associations in which a president has played such an important role.” New tasks for Schröcksnadel Schröcksnadel is now a board member of the International Ski Federation (FIS) as Vice President and is involved in some pretty big things like central marketing under Neo-President Johan Eliasch. The 80-year-old also heads the new Alpine Future Group, which is supposed to come up with innovations for ski racing. As is well known, his big heart project is cancer research and that promising project in which he has been involved for years.

In the book, many former companions from Toni Innauer to Marcel Hirscher to Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen appear in commentary. Anyone who wants to find out completely new things about “Schröcksi”, who served as ÖSV president for 31 years, is most likely to find what they are looking for in what he describes as his “colorful family”. “I never thought that someone would want a book from me,” says Schröcksnadel, looking forward to the sales success of the work published by egoth Verlag.

Incidentally, it will not be the only book about one of Austria's most powerful sports officials. Musician Clemens Hellsberg is working on a work that will examine Schröcksnadel from a completely different perspective. “And at some point there will also be a book about fishing,” assured the passionate angler Schröcksnadel.

He would still be very interested in ski racing, says Schröcksnadel, “because I miss the athletes.” But he won’t do any athlete management. So get back on your racing skis and compete at the next Senior World Championships. “I can still ski pretty well,” Schröcksnadel is convinced. That's why the book title was well chosen. “Who likes to lose? Not me."
