“Some statements from athletes have damaged the sport of skiing”

The International Ski Federation FIS has often been criticized by athletes this season. Now men's race director Markus Waldner is hitting back.

But Mr. Waldner should also admit that something went wrong at the FIS and perhaps also in his own responsibilities. Idiotic events, such as parallel competitions that have little to do with skiing and absolutely nothing to do with ski racing, should be gone, but no, they are even being promoted. Kristoffersen is a disgusting person, his criticism should simply be ignored, but Pintourault is an honest and good athlete who probably understands a few things that certain officials don't understand: his criticism should be taken seriously and the FIS doesn't do that, out of arrogance, inertia or other reasons. Mr. Waldner has to accept these findings.
