Finally overseas again: speed aces are looking forward to the start

Led by double world champion Vincent Kriechmayr, Austria's downhill skiers will also jet off to the USA in a large jet for their final training on Saturday. Thanks to the calendar correction, a huge six-pack of speed races is waiting there at the end of November in Lake Louise (CAN) and at the beginning of December in Beaver Creek (USA).

Kriechmayr is particularly in focus. He won World Cup gold in downhill and super-G last February and then also secured the crystal globe in the super-G World Cup. “Of course you want to confirm such achievements and continue where you left off,” the 30-year-old is clear that he is the hunted in the Olympic winter for the time being. But Kriechmayr doesn't care. “In the summer you hardly have the necessary routes to simulate a race anyway. There is a lot more speed in Copper Mountain. “The material behaves completely differently than when you train in the summer,” says the Upper Austrian, who has high expectations for the upcoming two-week training at the altitude of Colorado.
