All clear for Dreßen: No serious shoulder injury

“I am of course relieved after this diagnosis,” said Dreßen: “I am currently still feeling the after-effects of the subluxations, but I am confident that I will be able to travel to Kvitfjell. I’ll then decide on site whether it makes sense to take part in the races.” Team doctor Manuel Köhne and shoulder specialist Ernst Wiedemann diagnosed a subluxation of both shoulder joints in Munich on Monday. There was no structural damage to the right shoulder, said Köhne. The left shoulder, which was operated on after Dreßen's serious fall in Beaver Creek at the end of 2018, has a capsular strain and bleeding in the front shoulder muscles. However, the injury can be treated conservatively through rest and decongestant measures in conjunction with functional stress. “Assuming a favorable healing process, Thomas Dreßen can start training again in a few days,” said Köhne. Dreßen is considered a Kvitfjell specialist Dreßen won his second World Cup downhill in Kvitfjell in March 2018. “It’s a track he loves,” said head coach Christian Schwaiger. “If there’s any chance and it’s medically justifiable, we’ll do it.” In Norway there is a downhill and a super-G. After that, Dreßen would only have the World Cup final in Cortina d'Ampezzo with two more speed races (March 18th and 19th) on the program.
