First World Cup points for Alex Vinatzer

The 19-year-old laid the foundation for this great performance in the first round. With the high start number 35, the vice-junior world champion finished 20th in the slalom and qualified for the second run for the first time. In the decision, Vinatzer drove like an experienced rider, accelerated hard in the middle section and, with a safety drive at the last gates, brought him to the finish line in 16th place! For Alex Vinatzer, these are his first World Cup points in only the fourth World Cup slalom of his career. At the European Cup Slalom in Obereggen on Wednesday, Vinatzer was eliminated in the second run.

Manfred Mölgg from Enneberg was in 13th place at half time, but didn't do everything well in the second run either and finished the second slalom of the season in 11th place.

Local hero Marcel Hirscher celebrated his 63rd World Cup victory; the Salzburg player was already in the lead after the first round. For the 29-year-old, it was the ninth victory in the tenth slalom (across all seasons). Switzerland's Loic Meillard came second after also finishing second in the giant slalom on Wednesday. Henrik Kristoffersen ended up in third place.

The other “Azzurri” Simon Maurberger, Fabian Bacher, Giuliano Razzoli, Hans Vaccari and Stefano Gros were not there in the second run.

The slalomists are now moving to Madonna di Campiglio, where the night slalom is on the program on Saturday. The first run starts at 15.45:18.45 p.m., the second run at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.
