The 22-year-old from Genoa, which has a special history , said goodbye to her long-time mentor with emotional words on social media. “Sergio, I’m writing this because I want everyone to know what kind of person you were. Do you remember our first meeting? Me, yes. You told me that you would take care of me so I could get to where you thought I deserved to be. I remember how a certain Serena wanted to quit skiing a few years ago, but thanks to YOU, Serena is still here and fighting to make her dream come true. There is no other person who loves their work as much as you,” writes Viviani, who is one of the slalom talents in Italy and has competed in the World Cup three times so far. These words get under your skin The 22-year-old continues: “You raised me as if I were your daughter and passed on to me all the passion for this sport. You have fought like a warrior for years, but now the moment has come that we hoped would never come. It hurts, it hurts a lot, but it will pass and the time will come when I can finally think about our beautiful moments. You'll find a TV somewhere and watch ski racing, I'm sure. And you will see me smiling because every time I run a race, I do it for you. I promise to you." Viviani comes from Genoa and grew up surrounded by palm trees and the sea. Nevertheless, she wanted to become a skier. She didn't let numerous injuries throw her off track, and Sergio Sanmartino also played a big part in that.
