European Cup in St. Vigil with men's and women's races for the first time

Things will be spectacular again on Saturday December 14th. This year in a double pack. Because this is exactly the big novelty of the 2013 edition of the now traditional rendezvous with the European Cup at Kronplatz. For the first time, both men and women will be competing in Enneberg. The two people responsible for the European Cup, Markus Waldner and Janez Flere, were committed to this and the local organizer “Al Plan Events” immediately agreed to bring even more sport, even more excitement and a breath of fresh air into the more than ten-year history of the Continental Cup on the southern slope of Kronplatz.

“I am sure that the presence of the women will generate even more interest from the audience, also because there is no women's race in South Tyrol,” says OK boss Kastlunger, explaining the novelty of the upcoming edition. Organizationally, it doesn't get any easier. For the qualification races starting at 9.30 a.m. on the morning of the race day, two slalom courses must be set on the Erta slope, where women and men will race for the final places at the same time. The best 32 in both categories will then compete in the parallel giant slalom on the tried and tested Cianross slope from around 16 p.m. The decision will then be made between 18.00 p.m. and 19.30 p.m. at the night parallel giant slalom, which will again be broadcast live by Rai Sport.

“Since we do not overlap with the South Tyrolean World Cup races this year, I assume that more viewers will come and, above all, that we will reach a wider audience with our live broadcast,” said Kastlunger, who, as usual, raves about his sporting event.

Registrations have not yet started and the national teams have not yet submitted their final registration lists, so it is currently not possible to name the athletes who will be competing on December 14th.
