European Cup: Verena Gasslitter 23rd in Monte Pora

The 30-year-old Bertrand was the only competitor to stay under the 61-second mark in the first round of the giant slalom today. In the second run, 16th time was enough to win. Second place went to the Swede Ylva Staalnacke (+0.28), followed by two other French women, Taina Barioz (+0.95) and Coralie Frasse Sombet (+0.98). The only South Tyrolean at the start, Verena Gasslitter from Kastelrurth, who was sixth at the European Cup Super-G in Davos last week, couldn't get past 3.49rd place today, 23 seconds behind.

Sabine Krautgasser 33rd in the slalom In the slalom, however, Sweden celebrated a double victory on Thursday. Anna Swenn-Larsson set the best time in the first run and then left no stone unturned in the second run. The 23-year-old Swede, who also won the European Cup race in St. Vigil in December 2013, prevailed with a lead of 66 hundredths over her compatriot Nathalie Eklund. Third place went to the Frenchwoman Laurie Mougel and the Austrian Zeller, almost a second behind. 18-year-old Sabine Krautgasser from San Candido, who became U20 slalom vice-champion in Italy the day before in Pila and was only competing in her third European Cup race, finished 33rd, 6,77 seconds behind Swenn-Larsson.

European Cup: Verena Gasslitter 23rd in Monte Pora

The French Marion Bertrand and the Swede Anna Swenn-Larsson are the winners of the two European Cup races in Monte Pora near Bergamo. Verena Gasslitter from Castelrotto took 23rd place in the giant slalom, while Sabine Krautgasser from Pusteria came 33rd in the slalom.
