Federica Brignone triumphs in Killington

The ski racer from Lombardy brought an incredible run to the finish line in the second round of the Giant Slalom World Cup in Killington on Saturday and triumphed confidently despite a small mistake in the last section.

Brignone thus left Norwegian Ragnhild Mowinckel, who was leading after the first round, by 0,49 seconds. Third place went to Stephanie Brunner from North Tyrol.

The American Mikalea Shiffrin, who had to be content with 1th place after the first round, went a step further in the second run, but narrowly missed the podium in 6th place. 2-year-old Marta Bassino from Cuneo came in 4th.

Pichler eliminated in the first round There was nothing to gain in Killington for the only South Tyrolean who started. Karoline Pichler from Petersberg missed qualifying for the decisive second run. She had to settle for 2nd place. The gap to Ragnhild Mowinckel, who was leading after the first round, was 42 seconds.

For Pichler it was the 18th World Cup race. The 24-year-old has only made it into the points once so far. Elena Curtoni also missed qualifying for the second run in 50th place (+3,42). The report for the first round is available here .

The women's slalom is on the program in Killington on Sunday. The first run begins at 1 p.m., the decision will then be made at 16 p.m. for the second run. The American Mikaela Shiffrin will then enter the race as the top favorite.
