Gardenissima: Casse and Brignone the fastest

The 23rd edition of the South Tyrol Gardenissima, the longest giant slalom in the world, which traditionally ends the racing season, was once again a great success. The race director Giovanni Kasslatter, who has taken on this task for 23 years, has done an excellent job together with the lift associations to prepare the 6 kilometer long route from the summit of the Seceda at 2.518 m to the finish line at Col Raiser at 1.485 m. The route was slightly icy at the beginning due to the start time being brought forward at 7:30 a.m. and therefore particularly fast.

Maurberger in 3rd place Mattia Casse achieved the best time of the day and record time of all Gardenissima editions with just 3.30,52:0,09 minutes. The Austrian Romed Baumann was able to place just behind him (XNUMX seconds behind). The men's winner's podium.

Third place came from Ahrntaler Simon Maurberger (one second behind). Alexander Prast, a South Tyrolean, also came in fourth place.

The women's race was equally exciting, with Federica Brignone taking first place with a time of 3.39,70:XNUMX minutes. Katrin Hirti-Stanggassinger placed just behind, ahead of Martina Willibald. The three fastest women at Gardenissima 2019.

The audience's cheers also accompanied the “Ski Legends”, a group of top skiers from earlier times, at their starts. Luca Senoner won in this very special category. He was followed by his brother Jonas Senoner and Christian Wanninger. In the women's category, Isolde Kostner won ahead of Daniela Zini and Paola Magoni.
