Goggia wins Swiss time breakdown show

After Jasmine Flury, the second runner at the start, the race had to be interrupted. The timing in Crans Montana, Switzerland, did not work properly. Although a few racers still went on the slopes afterwards, the problems with the watch did not go away. Of all people, the second local hero, Johanna Hählen, had her timing break down again.

The company technicians tinkered around for minutes, and the Austrian Nicole Schmidhofer thought she was in the lead. But only until the timing worked properly again. Then it turned out that Hählen was three hundredths of a second faster than Schmidhofer.

Then the light barrier system for timing worked for a while - until the next Swiss woman crossed the finish line. And so Lara Gut-Behrami didn't know how good her ride was either. As a result, the race had to be stopped again, right in front of Sofia Goggia. Meanwhile, the audience acknowledged the time gap show with loud boos. Goggia in a class of its own But the Italian was unimpressed by the major problems with timing. Instead, Goggia translated the strong training impressions perfectly into race mode and conjured up a superior best time in the snow.

As a result, all the competitors bit their teeth at the Goggia time. Nicol Delago from Val Gardena (+1,29 seconds) also didn't come close to the time of the 26-year-old from Bergamo. Sister Nadia Delago was also at the start, but lost a lot of time on the descent (+3,64 seconds).

Second place went to the Swiss Joana Hählen. Nicole Schmidhofer was initially in third place - but because the FIS checked all the times again after the race, it turned out that Lara Gut-Behrami was actually faster than the Austrian. Schmidhofer lost her podium place hours after the race ( see own report ). Slovenian Stuhec in the hospital The descent in Crans Montana did not end well for Ilka Stuhec. The Slovenian had a serious fall and had to be taken to the hospital in Sion with severe pain. Even after the Frenchwoman Tiffany Gauthier drove, the race was interrupted for a long time. She had injured herself during a right swing, immediately grabbed her knee and then fell into the safety net.
