Great: Peter Fill gets the combination ball

In Wengen, Switzerland, the starting signal for the long Ski World Cup weekend was given on Friday with the Alpine combination. Peter Fill from Castelrotto came third and secured the small crystal ball in the discipline ranking after only two races. For Fill it is the third crystal ball, the first in the combination. In 2016 and 2017 he won the Crystal Globe in the Downhill World Cup.

After the first round - the downhill run - Dominik Paris, Peter Fill and Christof Innerhofer were in third, fourth and fifth place. Paris ended the classic in fifth place, Christof Innerhofer was eliminated in the slalom, as was the leader after the downhill, Vincent Kriechmayr from Austria. Hannes Reichelt, second after the downhill, did not start in the slalom.

The Frenchman Victor Muffat-Jeandet secured the day's victory, he was in 27th place after the descent. The Russian Pavel Trikhichev came second, and he also took advantage of the good slope in the slalom in 29th place after the descent. For Muffat-Jeandet it is the first World Cup victory and for Trikhichev it is the first podium finish of his career.

The downhill classic follows on the legendary Lauberhorn slope in Wengen on Saturday, and the slalom is on the program on Sunday.
