In recent days, the American has expressed her solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement on social networks - where Shiffrin is followed by over a million people. But the reactions to this were not only positive.

At the end of May, Shiffrin posted a photo with a black background and the caption: “I can’t breathe.” As is well known, these were the last words of George Floyd, who was killed by a white police officer in Minneapolis. “Maybe that’s not my problem. I deal with many things. Maybe with too many things. I already have enough burden to bear. It doesn't affect me directly, which is why it doesn't matter if I rebel against it," said Shiffrin, who then decisively added: "Wrong!"

At the same time there was also a shitstorm. “Unfollowed” commented one user, for example. “I’m officially not a fan of yours anymore,” another said. A few days later she published a multi-page letter in which she took a harsh tone. “I am not a politician, I am not a historian. Human rights activist is not my title. But I want to remind everyone who has doubts - athletes are people too. We can think and talk.
